Sonu Nigam, one of India's greatest singers, is in the land to delight fans ahead of India Day festivities on August 15, 1947, to honour the country's 75th independence from British colonial control after 200 years.
Nigam, who arrived in the nation from India yesterday afternoon, is staying at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

He has been nominated for 17 Filmfare Best Playback Singer awards, 10 Filmfare Awards South awards, and is a four-time (9 nominations) winner of the IIFA Award for Best Male Playback Singer. In 2014, he was nominated for an Academy Award for the music of Jal, which he co-composed with Sonu Nigam and Bickram Ghosh.
In September and October 2013, he was named the number one artist on the Billboard Uncharted charts in the United States. The Ruparelia Foundation and Airtel are other sponsors of the show.
