Speaker Among and Sudhir make assurances that the Speke Convention Center is ready for the NAM and G77 Summits.

The Speaker of Uganda's Parliament, Rt Hon. Anita Annet Among, has informed the people that the Speke Convention Center at Commonwealth Resort, Munyonyo, is nearing completion ahead of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Group of 77 (G-77), and China Third South summits.

Ms. Among went on a tour of the spectacular Convention Center, where the summit will be held in January 2024, on Friday, December 22.


"Earlier today, together with the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. @Thomas_Tayebwa, the national organizing committee, and technical staff, we had a guided tour of Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort to assess the progress of the ongoing construction works in preparation for the CSPOC, NAM, and G77 conferences due next year," Ms. Among wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday.

She went on to say, "Uganda stands ready to host the delegates, showcasing our commitment to fostering international dialogue and collaboration."

The speaker highlighted Uganda's readiness to receive foreign representatives. She emphasized Uganda's commitment to encouraging international conversation and cooperation, presenting the country as a hospitable and competent host for such conferences.

"I am confident that the venue will be an excellent venue for successful and impactful events." Uganda is prepared to welcome the delegates, demonstrating our commitment to developing international discourse and cooperation."

The facility's owner, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, said that construction is nearing completion and assured the Speaker of this.

"We are working day and night to beat the deadline, and I am confident we shall deliver everything on schedule," Sudhir said. Concerning the Summit

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), a forum of 120 nations, was established in 1961 with the goal of furthering developing countries' interests in the context of cold war conflict. They do not publicly support or oppose any major power group.

Between January 15 and 23, 2024, Uganda will host both the NAM Summit and the Third South Summit (G77 and China).
