The Country Manager of Bongobongo Uganda, Mr. Felix Owilo,

We will build a borehole, plant 1200 trees across Lira with the help of the local community, and hand over the Dewilo fish farm as part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives that coincide with worldwide customer service week. "The Lira CSR project is worth 500 million Uganda shillings (Ugx 500,000,000)," Mr. Owilo stated during his visit to Lira.
Mr. Andrew Kitamirike, marketing manager of BongobongoUganda, stated that the Dewilos fish farm is just one of many projects they have
in Uganda, and he pledged to support the Dewilo fish farm by providing inputs
such as fish feed, free community training, and encouraging the youth to
embrace the tree-planting drive and learn from the fish farm because they will
be able to earn a living.
He asked the government not to collect animal feed taxes since doing so would increase farmers' operating costs.
Mr. Enyang Alex, deputy director of research, vetting, and
profiling in the President's office, encouraged the locals to use the project
to gain knowledge on fish farming and improve their lives while officially
handing over the Dewilos farm project and the donated items, which included fish
feeds, tree seedlings, and solar powered security cameras.
Mr. Walter Okabo, the chairperson of LC 1 Amuca, stated, "This is a groundbreaking community effort, and villagers are appreciative to Bongbongo Uganda for donating the Dewilo fish farm. He feels that the kids will benefit the most since they will be employed, educated, and maybe start up their own fish ponds.
"The fish farm will bring us visitors from other
villages who want to study fish farming," he says, adding that nutrition
concerns would be addressed since fish will be inexpensive and easily available
in the community.
He finished by pushing other businesses to do more than just
collect money from their consumers and give it back, like Bongobongo Uganda has
done.
