Mr. Thomas Tayebwa, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has praised Dr. Sudhir Rupaleria, Chairman of the Rupaleria group of enterprises, for his dedication and leadership in the country's hospitality and tourist development. Tayebwa said Sudhir is one of the investors that has Uganda at heart while presiding at a tourism night event in honour of World Tourism Day yesterday in Kampala.
People I know have been urging Dr. Sudhir to visit their
nations and help them improve. I know many of them were wondering, but what did
you offer Sudhir in Uganda? "The guy has a lot of money, and we want him
to come and invest in our communities," he said.
On the same night, musician Eddy Kenzo and Olympic gold medalist Joshua Cheptegei, among others, were honoured for their contributions to Ugandan tourism via music and sports, respectively. The deputy Speaker also told investors that the government would be there for them anytime they needed it.
Tayebwa encouraged Ugandans to promote their nation everywhere they went.
"This is our home; whether you like it or not, we are going to be buried here," he said, adding, "Don't hate your country because you don't have any other country. If you go around painting a picture of Uganda, that is totally different and yet for you, you come and enjoy. It's a point of concern for some of us. You can say whatever you want, but know the limit and be the Ambassador of Uganda wherever you are and that is one way
