Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Uganda's billionaire, has praised President Museveni for creating a conducive environment for investors and for his unwavering support for the country's business community. Sudhir, the Chairman of the Lohana Community's Board of Trustees in Uganda, was speaking at the Lohana Business Conference at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
The merchant demonstrated Ugandans' tolerance, which is one of the reasons some foreign families have been able to live in the country for over 120 years and have succeeded in developing a chain of businesses.
Dr. Sudhir informed Museveni that the Lohana International Business Forum is a project aiming at linking Lohana firms and discussing market potential, as well as assisting businesses in better understanding the regulatory and fiscal frameworks of participating nations.
"It is my privilege, as chairman of the board of trustees of Lohana Community, to extend a warm welcome to you, especially those who have travelled from abroad to be with us." Your brilliance and presence brightened everyone's day. "Thank you for taking time out of your very busy schedule," the money magnet said.
"Some visitors who come here for the first time cannot believe that such a beautiful country exists in the world." "Uganda has a favourable investment environment that allows enterprises to expand regularly," he promised the businessmen and women.
Sudhir complimented the president for being foresighted, supportive of Uganda's business community, and always willing to listen to all company owners whenever the opportunity arose. "We have invested in commercial activities such as agriculture, information technology, construction, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, and education."
Museveni urged the Lohana community to take advantage of numerous investment and economic possibilities in Uganda during his address. The president outlined a vast array of materials, primarily agro-products and mining, that require value addition by establishing factories in Uganda. The topic of the Lohana International Business Forum 2023 was "Africa beckoning."
Almost 800 people from 28 nations from across the globe attended the four-day conference. The festivities were graced by Uganda's Minister of Investment, Evelyn Anite, and were backed by a number of Ugandan enterprises. This was the first worldwide business forum organised by Lohana Mahaparisad, the Lohana Community's mother organisation.
Satish Vithalani, President of Lohana Mahaparisad, chose Uganda as the host country for his visit in 2022. For nearly 150 years, the Lohana have been doing business in Uganda. Others bravely remained behind when President Idi Amin exiled 80,000 people of Indian origin in 1972.
Among the notable Lohana-based business houses are the Mehta Group, Madhvani Group, Ruparelia Group, Picfare Group, Lato Milk, House of Dawda, and Translink Group.
