In advance of the NAM and G-77 Summits, President Museveni inspects the Speke Resort Munyonyo Convention Center.

Next year, the Speke Resort Munyonyo Convention Center will host the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and Group of 77 (G-77) + China Third South summits. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and businessman Sudhir Ruparelia paid a visit to the resort to assess its progress.

The President was given a tour of Speke Resort Munyonyo's cutting-edge multipurpose convention center, which includes 4,000 seats for an auditorium and upmarket conference meeting rooms. The new convention facility will include twelve breakout rooms and a main hall that can hold 3,800 people.

When completed, the multibillion-dollar building will also provide smaller conference rooms or sides for conversations throughout the summit, as well as a suspended restaurant with views of Lake Victoria.

The NAM and Third South Summits will be held in Uganda from January 15 to 23, 2024. The theme of NAM will be "Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence," whereas the subject of Third South will be "Leaving No One Behind." The NAM summit will serve as a venue for attaining our common goals and promoting world unity and cooperation.

Throughout his visit, Museveni emphasized Uganda's readiness to show hospitality and contribute to a successful summit. Mrs. Natasha Karugire, the First Daughter, and high-ranking government officials accompanied the President on the tour, including the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, the Head of Public Service, and the Chairperson of the National Organizing Committee of the NAM and G-77 summits.
