Museveni is commended by Victoria University for approving its charter

The administration of Victoria University has hailed President Museveni for signing and approving the university's charter.

On July 31, 2022, the president signed the Victoria University Charter.

"We appreciate and salute the president, first lady, and hon. minister of education and sports, Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni, as well as the National Council for Higher Education Executive Director, Prof. Mary Okwakol, and her entire team, for recognising and authenticating the growth that Victoria University has undertaken in recent years," the university said in a statement today.

A charter is issued to a university that has proved, among other things, high quality personnel, teaching and learning, research output, technology and practical-led learning, infrastructure development, and sound governance.

After a series of inspections and visits, the president and NCHE must be pleased for an institution to be certified.

A charter is awarded by the president, as indicated by the NCHE, under the Universities and other tertiary institutions Act 2001. Furthermore, a chartered institution is similar to a public university.

Victoria University is the 11th private university in Uganda to be licenced, out of 32 private institutions.

The University, which was established in August 2013, has the ability, facilities, and commitment to revitalise higher education in Uganda and the region.

It is strategically positioned in Kampala City and on major public transit lines, with plenty of parking. Victoria University is part of the Ruparelia Group of Companies, which has a strong presence in the education sector in Uganda and has under its portfolio, Kampala Parents School and Delhi Public School International.
