The Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda (FMU) has named Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Chairman of the Ruparelia Group of Companies, as its principal sponsor in the FMU annual season awards for 2022.
The awards, which had not been presented in over three years owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, took place on Friday, December 16th, at the Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, a Kampala suburb.
Several motocross, autocross, enduro, and national rally winners from 2019 to 2022 were recognised at the awards ceremony, and the Ruparelia Group was among the premium sponsors who walked away with special prizes for its steadfast support of rally competitions around the country over the years.
Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia's Ruparelia Group was recognised for continually sponsoring FMU rally championships and other motorcross events via its subsidiary enterprises, the Speke Group of Hotels, the Ruparelia Foundation, and the Kabira Country Club.
Lato Milk, MoIL, Uganda Lodges, Dunlop Tyres, and Mountain Dew were among the other FMU sponsors honoured on the event.
"These awards have come a little late considering the hardships the federation has encountered before stemming from COVID and many more," FMU president Dipu Ruparelia remarked. The Katende and Blick brothers, Filbert Muwonge, Gift Sebuguzi, Sharifah Kateete, and Kylan Wekesa received the most honours for their accomplishments in their respective motocross divisions since 2019.
Godfrey Nsereko (2019), Ibrahim Lubega (2020/21), and Oscar Ntambi (2022) were named two-wheel drive champions.
Ibrahim Lubega won his 2019 Clubman Rally Championship trophy on the same platform as Muhammed Bwete, the category's defending champion. Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba were announced as the 2019 National Rally Champions.
