Sudhir’s VCON awarded UGX 34 billion construction deal by Islamic University Uganda

VCON, a construction business controlled by Ugandan millionaire Sudhir Ruparelia, has been granted a UGX.34 billion project. VCON will establish a cutting-edge Faculty of Engineering at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in Mbale, Uganda, east of the capital Kampala.

The proposal was announced last week, with details suggesting that it would also include the construction of the university's main building.During the project signing, Sudhir, the chairman of Ruparelia Group, represented VCON, while Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, the Principal of IUIU, represented the Ugandan Islamic leaning institution.

The Islamic Development Bank granted IUIU a loan of UGX 35 million for projects that are scheduled to be completed in 15 months. After the signing, Prof. Gyagenda stressed the project's late position and requested the contractor to stick to the agreed-upon timeframe, specifications, and standards for completion.

"This project is critical because science and technology are the engines of growth in our country and around the world," Gyagenda added. Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, on his part, assured the university that the project would be completed on time while maintaining high standards and quality.

"Currently, our company has 11 ongoing construction projects, and this will be added with sufficient technical capacity," he said.

VCon Construction has an exceptional track record of project completion. Among these is the magnificent Kingdom Kampala Mall, a huge commercial building worth millions of dollars. In addition, VCON has successfully produced two unique residential apartment enterprises, Tagore Living and Bukoto Living.

VCON Construction arose from an exclusive concentration on developing properties for the respected Ruparelia Group's diversified real estate and hospitality activities to become a key participant in the Ugandan construction sector.

The organization has successfully handled the concurrent execution of over ten large projects, demonstrating exceptional capacity and skill.

This historic accomplishment not only cements VCON's status as a prominent participant in the civil engineering sphere, but also demonstrates the Ruparelia Group's dedication to contribute to the nation's educational infrastructure.

All eyes are on VCON as they begin on this revolutionary initiative that will define the future of engineering education in Uganda and raise the university's academic offerings to new heights.
