Miss Uganda Elite Husinah Nassuna given a full scholarship at Victoria University

Husinah Nassuna, the recently crowned Miss Elite Uganda 2023/24, has been given a full academic scholarship by Prof. Dr. Lawrence Muganga, vice chancellor of Victoria University. Nassuna, 21, who has a bachelor’s degree in nursing science from Victoria University, was among the 21 finalists at the Miss Uganda Beauty Pageant on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Speaking at the event shortly after Nassuna was crowned Miss Elite Uganda 2023, Prof. Muganga said the Victoria University is thrilled to have been able to support Nassuna in her journey towards the Miss Uganda Grand Finale and are even more willing to support her in her academy journey with a full scholarship until she graduates.

"We at the university are overjoyed to have had the opportunity to assist Husinah on her path to becoming Miss Uganda Elite 2023/2024. We believe that our role is not only to educate our students but also to support and empower them in achieving their goals and aspirations. This is why we are thrilled to award her a fully financed scholarship to continue her Bachelor of Nursing Degree to completion," Muganga informed this website.

Furthermore, Muganga said if Nassuna ever chooses to pursue a Master of Nursing or any other postgraduate degree, "Victoria University will grant her a scholarship to accomplish that milestone."

He further applauded Ugandans who voted in favour of Nassuna in the online voting exercise, which played a great role in her winning the Miss Uganda Elite crown with an online vote count of 62,867 votes behind the eventual Miss Uganda winner Hannah Karema Tumukunde, who garnered 70,830 votes.

"We also want to express our sincere gratitude to all the Ugandans and citizens of the world who supported Husinah in this competition. Your votes played a vital part in her achievement, and we are very thankful for your support. It is through your compassion and generosity that we can continue to help our kids in reaching their goals and dreams."

Muganga explained that Nassuna’s success is an inspiration to all of them and a testament to the exceptional calibre of students at their university.

"We believe that she will continue to represent us with distinction at the international level, including the Miss Elite World contest, which is scheduled to take place in Egypt in May 2023. We wish to thank the hard effort and devotion of all the competitors in the Miss Uganda 2023 competition," stated Muganga.

The VC also congratulated Hanna Kalema Tumukunde for being crowned Miss Uganda 2023, as well as the first and second runners-up, Whitney Martha Ademun and Agwang Proscy Premah.

"You have set an excellent example for other young girls with a dream to succeed in life and make it to the top. We are tremendously proud of all our kids and the great things they accomplish. We will continue to support and empower them to achieve their dreams and make a positive difference in the world," he said.
